The Astor Place Theater strives to provide all patrons with an equal opportunity to participate in available services, programs, and activities. This includes patrons with disabilities. In order to provide a full and equal experience for all patrons, the Astor Place Theater has implemented accessibility policies and procedures which are highlighted below.
Should a patron with a disability have questions about these accessibility policies/practices and/or seek any other accommodation they should reach out to the theater at (212) 777-4741 or by emailing AstorBoxOffice@blueman.com

The Astor Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM –6:00 PM with varying hours on weekends. You may reach the Box Office by calling (212) 777-4741.
ACCESS TO THE THEATER
Patrons should be advised that the main lobby of the theater is located below-grade in the historic Colonnade building, eight steps down from the street. Access for patrons utilizing mobility devices is achieved using our in-house LiftKar stair crawler (LiftKar PTS ).
Patrons will be transferred to the LiftKar chair when they arrive at the theatre and escorted down the stairs by our trained security personnel. At lobby level, patrons will be transferred back to their own mobility device* or use one of our in-house wheelchairs.
*Please note that patron’s devices cannot exceed 50lbs, as they will be carried down the stairs into the lobby by our security personnel. Patrons will have the option to have their device attended by security personnel for the duration of the show, by leaving it beneath our marquee where it will be covered and monitored for the entirety of the show. (If they wish, patrons requiring the use of the Liftkar for access will also be permitted to exit the theater first upon the show’s conclusion.)
If a patron must use one of the Theater’s wheelchairs and, therefore, requires push assistance, someone from the theater will be assigned to provide that help prior to and after the show.
Upon purchase of accessible seats, the Box Office will reach out to confirm our accommodations will suit you.
Once patrons are transported to the main lobby, all other public areas and services are accessible for guests with disabilities including the restroom, ticket window, merchandise counter, and accessible seating area.
The mezzanine is located 26 steps up from the main lobby only and is not currently accessible to wheelchairs.
ACCESSIBLE SEATING
Accessible seating is available for purchase by (or on behalf of) patrons with mobility disabilities who require accessible seating because of their disability, as well as patrons who cannot sit in a straight-back chair or those whose service dogs cannot fit under a non-accessible seat or lie safely in the aisle. Accessible seating is available on a first come first serve basis.
Temporary Disabilities - If you have a temporary disability and you have already purchased tickets to an event that are not in the accessible seating area, please call the Box Office and we will make the necessary arrangements for you to attend the event in a comfortable and enjoyable manner. When calling, please have the event, date, and seat(s) available.
ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES
Assistive Listening Devices that transmit sound via headsets are available for all performances. Patrons should see the house manager to obtain a device prior to entering the seating area.
PATRONS WITH SERVICE ANIMALS
Service animals (and service animals in training) are permitted in Astor Place Theater. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (and equivalent state/local law) defines a service animal as any dog (and in some instances miniature horses), such as a guide dog or signal dog that is individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. This includes psychiatric service animals, which are individually trained to provide service to individuals with psychiatric or neurological disabilities, such as preventing or interrupting impulsive or destructive behaviors. Emotional support animals are not service animals and, therefore, are not permitted in the theater.
Service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered at all times, unless special circumstances exist, and will be required to rest in the seating area of the individual with a disability, rather than in the aisle. Patrons with larger service animals can purchase tickets in the accessible seating area.
